If you read the About page at all, you saw I mentioned that Space Daddy Games was created due to an urge to be more creative. There are a lot of options out there to be creative though, so the question that has been asked by a few people close to me is, “Why games?”
Its a good question. I have other creative pursuits. I’ve got a bit of a knack for woodworking and have built a few pieces of furniture, so I could go that way. I’ve played instruments most of my life, though only with mediocrity, so I could take up music. I’ve written a lot over the years, so that could be an outlet as well.
So, why games? Because of community.
Playing tabletop games has always been a part of my life. I remember childhood games of Sorry and Life. I remember running the first session of HeroQuest for my friends. I remember first getting to join the adults game table at family events to play cards, Rumikube, or Scrabble. I remember the excitement of learning about roleplaying games for the first time.So many of my favorite memories are of playing games around the table with friends and family.
If I had to choose anything to put my time into, why not choose something that makes me happy, engages my mind, and gives me the opportunity to spend time with people I love being around. Games seemed like the perfect solution.
